I think horses are amazing animals. They are majestic and beautiful. They are wonderful companions. They listen when no one else will. They can sense how you feel and be very comforting. There are many different types of horses, Morgans, Clydesdales, thoroughbred quarter horses American saddlebred, Arabian, barb, mustang, pinto, shire, and Paint. My favorite horse is a Morgan. I grew up ridding Morgans.  Morgans can be ridden English or western. English ridding is where the saddle it flat, and western ridding is where the saddle has a horn. Both can be fun. I think western ridding on trails is much more comfortable the ridding English on trails. Western ridding is more relaxing and the movements are smooth. English ridding is more for show, when you ride English you have to do a lot more work, such as posting. Posting is where you push up in your stirrups when the inside leg of the horse goes up. I think horses play a big role in therapy ridding. A horse is very aware of what’s going on. They know if the rider is scared or nervous or in worst cases, abusive. A horses movement relaxes the riders muscles. Horse therapy is an amazing thing. Experiencing it first hand, I’ve seen major improvement in some kids. I think my favorite kid was Justin he was a 9 year old boy who had MD. He was in regular therapy for 3 months and his parents saw no improvement. Justin came to the horse barn and started riding. He came to the barn three times a week.  Six months later Justin had made major improvement. Eight months later Justin was up and taking steps. I think horses have their own personality for sure. There is this one horse at the barn, he is defiantly feisty, but a huge sweetheart.  When you walk up to his stall, he’ll come up to you and give you kisses, but when you ride him, be careful he has a mind of his own. Horses make great work for some people, like the Amish. Their horses are used for all sorts of things. For one horses are their transportation. Without horses they would not be able to go where they want. Horses are used for another advantage; horses allow the Amish to plow their fields. On another note, horses jumping is pretty cool. I think horse jumping takes an enormous amount of concentration and communication between the rider and horse. I think competition ridding is fun. There are a few types of competition, one I like the most is dressage. This is where you make the horse dance. This is a harder competition. This can range from simple to complex steps. Dressage takes years of practice. I think the clothing or outfits worn for horse show can be really cute or not so cute. I think that western costumes can be very elaborate. There can be sparkles lots of color, fringe, colorful hats, and gloves. A typical English riding outfit is tight khaki pants, tall black boots and a black jacket. Some people wear helmets and some don’t. I prefer to wear a helmet because you never know if a horse will get spooked or act up. I think horses enjoy being brushed and cleaned. I know I enjoy brushing my horse. I love the smell of horse on my  hand after I pet my horse. I also think they enjoy being hosed down in the summer, and enjoy their blankets in the winter. Grooming their hooves has to be done by a specialist. They have to cut and file the hooves with a special tool. I think to horses this tickles, like when we get our feet tickled. I also think horses should have a barn mate so they don’t get lonely. I also think they should have toys to play with, like I said horses have personalities too.  I think wild horses are pretty cool. They have no boundaries to worry about they can run as fast and as far as they can, and have no worries. I think trail ridding is one of my favorite things to do. I can take my horse to any trail and ride as long as I want and as far as I want. I like trial ridding because there are no rules and no fences. I can walk my horse or I can run him. I can feel the wind in my hair and across my face, I can hear the deep breath of the horse. I think it’s one of the most relaxing things to do especially if you are alone on a trail and you can hear nature all around you. The birds chirping, the river flowing, and the clomp clomp clomp of the horses hooves. When I feel sad I go out and see my horse. Somehow he always cheers me up. I think horses know how we feel. Especially when we ride them, if we feel scared they will know and they w themselves will be scared. If you ride and you feel confident and comfortable the horses will relax. On another note, when some people ride they use a crop to hit the horse to go, many people think this hurts the horse. It does not, all it is, is just a tap to get the horses attention on you. Many horses have different personalities and temper ranges. A lot of the horses behavior will fall back on the owner or rider. If the owner is nonchalant with the horses, then the horse will be ignorant or scared by people. If the owner treats the horse well, then the horse will behave. Usually horses will be well  tempered, but if you do something wrong they will let you know. All in all I think horses are amazing, they can sense our feelings, they all have different personalities, they can do large amounts of work they dance and can help change handicapped kids lives.

Horses are amazing animals.
